Description: A photogram of algae in cyanotype process which is based on iron compounds. The photo was created by Anna Atkins for her book Photographs of British Algae: Cyanotype Impressions.
Intention: To create an exact impression of the object, in this case being algae.
Interpretation: The shape and form are in calm tones of blue against a deep blue background. A silhouette with extra detail added with tones.
Evaluation: The photo is very easy on the eyes because of the mix of blue tones. A regular 2 tone silhouette is sharp, when a cyanotype photogram with its mix of tones is very fluid and has a good balance.
